The company was founded in 1976, taking its name from the abbreviated form of the name of its founder Pasquale (Paci) Quardi, one of the first entrepreneurs who realized that technological developments in the field of lighting would have a huge future in show business and the entertainment world.
In 1982, CLAYPAKY introduced Astrodisco, in which a single lamp emitted multiple beams of colored light to ceilings and dance floors. Five years later, she launched Brilliant, a digitally controlled moving head. This is a precursor to a new generation of smart projectors .
In 1988, the programmable Golden Scan was introduced, a projector with a moving mirror and the first lamp to use stepper motor technology instead of servomotors.
